Tooth enamel is intended to be hard enough to handle the basic functions of chewing and biting. Yet there are some situations that can cause a fracture to alter the surface of a tooth.

If Dr. Joel Manalese can’t effectively repair the tooth with a basic dental filling, he might recommend treating the tooth with a dental crown.

To do this he will need to prepare an anchoring removing the tooth’s enamel layer with a dental drill. This small post of dentin will eventually have the necessary strength to anchor the dental crown in your mouth.

Dr. Joel Manalese will create a detailed impression of the area. This will be sent to his dental lab where your new dental crown will be created from either gold, base metals, or a dental porcelain. A temporary crown will then be secured over the abutment to keep it safe, while you await completion of your crown.

You will need to return to the office for a second appointment when your dental crown is ready. The temporary crown will be removed and your new permanent crown will then be cemented in place.

If you are in the Riverside, California area, and you have suffered a fractured tooth, you should call 951-888-5805 to seek treatment at Regal Dentistry.
