If you have chipped, broken, fractured, or discolored teeth, you’ve likely heard about dental veneers as an option for cosmetic dentistry and restoring your smile to what it used to be.
But what are dental veneers? How do they work? In order to help clear up this part of cosmetic dentistry, our team here at Regal Dentistry put this piece together to explain those very questions.
What are they?
Veneers are simply wafer-thin sheets of porcelain custom-fitted to cover the entire surface of your teeth. While they’re most commonly made from porcelain, they’re also sometimes made from a resin.
How do they work?
Veneers are applied to your teeth after a consultation appointment with Dr. Joel Manalese. Your teeth have to be roughed up slightly so the veneers will properly adhere. Then, a cement is placed on your teeth. After the cement is ready, Dr. Joel Manalese will place the veneers in the exact places on your teeth where they need to be. Once the cement dries, you’ll have a brand-new, bright, beautiful smile.
Veneers are often used to fix minor cosmetic imperfections, and are a great option if you have enamel stains too deep for whitening to fix.
